Don’t camp in the place of your pain on the way to achieving your God given dreams

Each one of us has a plan and a purpose for us given by God.  On the way to achieving that plan, purpose and vision that God has given us, we are going to experience pain.  The key for us is not to camp there but acknowledge the pain, be healed of the pain and move on, not only for your own sake but for those that are coming after you.

Take a look at Terah, Abraham’s Dad, in Genesis 11 we read:

“27This is the account of Terah’s family line.  Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot. 28 While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans, in the land of his birth. 29 Abram and Nahor both married. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milkah; she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milkah and Iskah. 30 Now Sarai was childless because she was not able to conceive.

31 Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Harran, they settled there.

32 Terah lived 205 years, and he died in Harran.”

Terah experienced pain in terms of his son dying.  To me this is one of the questions I shall ask God, why should a child die before a parent, because it does cause the parent such pain.

Terah was called of God to leave his country and go to the Ur of Chaldeans, but on the way he came to a place called Haran, the same name of that of his son who had died.  Instead of going on and achieving what he set out to do, no doubt his grief caused him to camp there and so stopped him from entering into the blessings that God had for him and his family.

So it wasn’t until after he died that God’s call came to his son, Abram to take up the challenge and go to the promised land.

How often do we camp when we experience pain in our lives and so don’t experience the full measure of what God has for us.
